Sonny Bill Williams was born in August 1985 in Auckland, New Zealand. From a very young age Williams was clearly very gifted at sport and excelled in most sports he played, especially rugby and rugby league. We all first heard about Sonny Bill Williams in 2002 when he got offered a junior contract for the Canterbury Bulldogs NRL Club and he moved to Sydney, Australia to play junior grade rugby league.

Rugby League

After having moved to Sydney to play junior grade rugby league, Sonny Bill Williams was an immediate hit in the sport, moving up the ranks quickly he was selected to play for the Jersey Flegg Cup side in his first year in the sport. The following year Williams cemented a starting spot in the premier league Bulldogs side, at the young age of 18 Sonny Bill Williams made his NRL Debut playing for the Bulldogs against the Eels at Parramatta Stadium. Shortly after he made his debut for the Kiwis National league side becoming one of the youngest players to do so. Sonny Bill Williams was a popular and much sought after man in rugby league and was given contracts for many clubs all of which he turned down claiming “I am a bulldog for life” and the following couple of seasons became a house hold name scoring a handful of tries along the way.
